Every Caperro piece is knitted after you order, to the size you choose — or to your dog's own measurements. Two minutes with a soft tape measure is all it takes.
How to measure

Head circumference
Wrap the tape under the chin and over the top of the head. Snug, not tight. This decides the hat size.

Neck circumference
Measure around the base of the neck, where the collar sits.

Distance between ears
A straight line across the top of the head, from the base of one ear to the other.

Weight
Sweaters are sized by weight — weigh your dog, or send chest and back length for a custom fit.

Sizing questions
What size hat does a Chihuahua wear?
Most Chihuahuas wear XXS, a head circumference of 18–20 cm (7–8 in). Measure your dog to be sure: heads vary a lot within the breed.
My dog is between two sizes — which one?
For the Pom-Pom Hood choose the smaller size: the knit stretches gently and the ties hold it. For the Pom-Pom Beanie choose the larger one: it has no ties and stays on by stretch, so a little room is more comfortable. For a sweater, or a long-bodied dog, choose Custom and send the measurements.
How do I measure my dog's head for a hat?
Wrap a soft tape under the chin and over the top of the head, snug but not tight. That number is the head circumference; pick the size whose range contains it.
How do I size a dog sweater?
Sweaters are sized by weight. For a closer fit, measure the neck where the collar sits, the back from the neck to the base of the tail, and the chest at its widest point behind the front legs, then compare with the chart.
